Good to know
Is July a good time to visit Nepal?
July is the wettest month across most of Nepal. Rain falls in heavy bursts, rivers run high and roads in the hills are regularly blocked by landslides. National parks in the Terai close or restrict access, and most trekking routes are muddy and cloud-bound. The Kathmandu Valley is green and quiet, with rice planting in the fields. Upper Mustang, in the rain shadow, remains the one region we actively recommend in July.
What is the weather like in Nepal in July?
Kathmandu 20–28 °C, heavy rain most days. Conditions differ by altitude and coast, so check the forecast for each stop a week before you travel.
Where should we go in Nepal in July?
We suggest Mustang, Kathmandu. Fly rather than drive between Kathmandu and Pokhara in July, as landslides can close the highway for hours.
