Good to know
Is July a good time to visit North East India?
The wettest month in Meghalaya and the most unsettled for road travel across the region. Mist sits on the Sohra plateau for days at a time, Nongriat's steps are slick and some paths close. Kaziranga stays shut as floods move through the park and animals take to higher ground. Our advice is to travel elsewhere in India, or come to Shillong for a short, slow stay.

Sohra rain 2,665 mm, Shillong 18–24 °C, cloud on the ridges. Conditions differ by altitude and coast, so check the forecast for each stop a week before you travel.
