Good to know
Is August a good time to visit Nepal?
August is still the monsoon, though rain often eases in the second half of the month. Gai Jatra brings processions of cows and costumed children through Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur, and Teej, a women's festival with red saris and fasting, often falls late in the month. Mountains remain hidden for days. Chitwan and Bardia are largely closed to safaris. Mustang is in its best season, green in the irrigated villages and dry on the trails.
What is the weather like in Nepal in August?
Kathmandu 20–28 °C, monsoon rain. Conditions differ by altitude and coast, so check the forecast for each stop a week before you travel.
