The Oberoi Vanyavilas
Vanyavilas stands near the park's approach road outside Sawai Madhopur. The tents stand on raised platforms in gardens planted with fruit trees and native species, with a central building styled on a Rajput hunting lodge. It is a short drive to the park gates, which matters for 6 am safari departures in winter.
Park permits are issued by the forest department, not by the hotel, so the hotel helps arrange safaris within the official system. We book three nights where possible to allow four or five drives. Between safaris, the spa, pool and gardens make long afternoons comfortable. The park's core zones close for the monsoon, from roughly July to September; check current status before you travel.
Why we book it
- Polished tents close to the park gates
- Naturalists and safari planning on site
- Spa and gardens for the hours between drives
Questions travellers ask
Good to know
Does The Oberoi Vanyavilas arrange tiger safaris
The hotel helps arrange safaris, but all vehicles and zones in Ranthambore are allotted by the Rajasthan forest department. Zone allocation is not something a hotel can promise. We apply for permits as soon as your dates are fixed and work with the hotel's naturalists to plan the drives.
Is Vanyavilas open in the monsoon
Opening months vary by year, and the park's main zones close from about 1 July to 30 September. Some peripheral zones may stay open. Check current status before you travel. We plan Ranthambore between October and June, with April and May giving good sightings but heat above 40 °C.
How many nights should I stay at Vanyavilas
Three nights gives four or five safaris, which is what we recommend for a fair chance of seeing a tiger. Two nights gives two or three drives and suits guests on a tight schedule who accept a lower chance. Sightings are never guaranteed in any zone.
