Five nights built around tigers: two in Jaipur for Amber Fort and the old city, then three nights at The Oberoi Vanyavilas with five safaris in Ranthambore National Park. A focused, short journey with good odds of a sighting.
Ranthambore is the most accessible tiger reserve in India, 3.5 hours from Jaipur, and one of the best for sightings. This journey gives it three full nights and five drives, which is what we recommend for a fair chance of seeing a tiger, with two nights in Jaipur for the forts and bazaars.
It works well on its own, as an extension to a Delhi and Agra trip, or before flying on to Udaipur. We apply for safari permits as soon as dates are fixed, as the best zones sell out early.

Questions travellers ask
Good to know
What are my chances of seeing a tiger
With five safaris over three nights, most of our guests see at least one tiger. Chances are highest from March to June. Sightings are never guaranteed. Morning drives at first light are often the most productive, as tigers are most active then, and the afternoon drive on day 4 is usually in a different zone. In April and May the heat can pass 40 °C, so we plan midday rest at the lodge.
Can I stay at a different lodge
Yes. SUJÁN Sher Bagh and Aman-i-Khás are seasonal tented camps, and Six Senses Fort Barwara is a restored fort about 30 km away. Each changes the price, and Fort Barwara adds driving time to every safari. We keep the same five safaris and the Jaipur nights at Rambagh Palace whichever you choose. The camps open for only part of the year; check current status before you travel.
Can I add Udaipur
Yes. Return to Jaipur and fly to Udaipur for two or three nights. Or see our Tigers and palaces journey, which continues via Bundi. On day 6 you would drive or take the train back to Jaipur, about 3.5 hours by road, then take the short flight to Udaipur. The Bundi route avoids retracing the road and adds Chittorgarh Fort on the way to Lake Pichola.
Is a private jeep possible
Private jeep bookings depend on the forest department's rules and availability. We request them where possible; otherwise you may share a six-seat jeep with other guests. A private jeep costs more and does not change the zone you are given, since zones are allotted by the forest department and cannot be changed on the day. We apply for permits as soon as dates are fixed; check current status before you travel.
Can children join the safaris
Yes, subject to forest department rules on age and ID. Children who can sit for three hours enjoy it. Tell us ages when booking. Winter mornings in an open jeep can be 5 to 8 °C, so warm layers and a hat matter. Between drives, the Dastkar craft project and the climb to Ranthambore Fort and the Ganesh temple keep younger travellers busy. Rules change; check current status before you travel.
Which month is best for tigers
March to May for sightings, as tigers gather near water. November to February is cooler and comfortable. October is the start of the season. Winter mornings in an open jeep can drop to 5 to 8 °C, while April and May bring heat above 40 °C. The main zones close from 1 July to 30 September, so we do not run this journey then; check current status before you travel.
Can I start from Delhi or Agra
Yes. Ranthambore is about 5 hours by fast train from Delhi, and about 5 hours by road from Agra. We can arrange either. You would then reverse the order, with three nights and five safaris at The Oberoi Vanyavilas first and two nights at Rambagh Palace after, a drive or train of about 3.5 hours. Train times change, so check current status before you travel.
What should I bring
Neutral clothing, warm layers for winter mornings, a hat, sunscreen, a scarf for dust, binoculars and a camera with a zoom lens. Winter mornings in an open jeep can be 5 to 8 °C, so add gloves and a warm jacket from December to February. Camera fees in the park are not included in the price. Keep a small day bag for the jeep, as space is limited.
Is the price per person
Yes, per person, twin sharing, from the figure shown. Safari type and dates affect the final price. Single travellers pay a supplement. Room category at Rambagh Palace and The Oberoi Vanyavilas also changes the figure, and Christmas, New Year and Diwali weeks are the most expensive. A private jeep, where allowed, adds to the cost. We confirm a firm quote once your dates are fixed.
