Dwarika's Resort Dhulikhel

The resort sits on a ridge above the Araniko Highway, about 1–1.5 hours from Kathmandu, with views north across terraced fields to the Himalaya, from the Langtang range towards Gaurishankar on clear days. Buildings are low and earthy, in the brick and wood of the Kathmandu Valley, spread across gardens and terraces so that most rooms face the mountains. The atmosphere is quiet and unhurried: there is no traffic, and evenings are dark and still.
Wellbeing is the focus. Guests can join yoga and meditation sessions, book treatments at the spa, and eat from menus built around vegetables grown on the resort's farm. It works well as the first or last stop of a Nepal journey, and as a base for Namobuddha, the old Newar town of Panauti, and walks through the farming villages around Dhulikhel. We usually suggest two or three nights.
Why we book it
- Terraces facing a long line of the Himalaya on clear days
- Yoga, meditation and spa programmes with farm-grown food
- An easy base for Namobuddha and Panauti
Questions travellers ask
Good to know
How far is Dwarika's Resort Dhulikhel from Kathmandu?
About 30 km east of Kathmandu on the Araniko Highway, usually 1–1.5 hours by car from the airport or central Kathmandu, depending on traffic through Bhaktapur. Many of our guests combine the drive with a morning in Bhaktapur Durbar Square, arriving at Dhulikhel in time for lunch and the afternoon light on the mountains.
Can you see the Himalaya from Dwarika's Resort Dhulikhel?
Yes, on clear days. The resort faces north across the hills to a long stretch of the Himalaya, from the Langtang range towards Gaurishankar. Views are most reliable from October to February, especially at sunrise. From June to September monsoon cloud usually hides the peaks, and in late April and May haze often softens them by mid-morning.
Is Dwarika's Resort Dhulikhel a wellness retreat?
It is a full-service resort with a strong wellness focus rather than a strict retreat. You can join yoga and meditation sessions, book spa therapies and follow lighter menus from the organic farm, or simply rest and walk. Structured wellness packages are available; tell us your goals and we will ask the resort to plan a programme around your nights there.
