Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge

A small lodge of stone cottages on a ridge above the Pokhara valley, facing Machapuchare and the Annapurna range. It has a pool, a long terrace and guided walks into the surrounding villages, and is our first choice for travellers who come to Pokhara for the mountains rather than the lakefront.

The lodge stands on a forested ridge east of Pokhara, a short drive above the valley floor and away from the noise of Lakeside. Cottages are built from local stone and slate in the style of the hill villages, each with a view towards the mountains. The main lodge has a bar, a dining room and a terrace that looks straight up the valley to Machapuchare at 6,993 m, with the Annapurnas and, on clear mornings, Dhaulagiri beyond.

Days here are simple: sunrise from the terrace, a guided walk along the ridge to Gurung and Brahmin villages, an afternoon by the pool, and evenings watching the light fade on the peaks. The lodge comes from the same tradition as Tiger Tops, the pioneers of Nepal's wildlife lodges, and its staff know the surrounding hills well. We pair it with Phewa Lake, Sarangkot and the World Peace Pagoda, all within an hour's drive.

Why we book it

  1. Direct views of Machapuchare and the Annapurnas from every cottage
  2. Quiet ridge setting away from Lakeside
  3. Guided village walks straight from the lodge

Questions travellers ask

Good to know

Where is Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge?

The lodge sits on a ridge on the eastern side of the Pokhara valley, a short drive from the airport and above the valley floor. Lakeside and Phewa Lake are roughly 30–45 minutes away by car. That distance is the point: nights are quiet and the view is of mountains rather than town, though we can easily arrange dinners or boat trips on the lake.

When are the mountain views best at Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge?

From October to March, and above all at sunrise. In those months Machapuchare and the Annapurna range are usually clear in the early morning, with cloud building on some afternoons. In April and May haze is common by mid-morning, and from June to September the monsoon often hides the peaks for days at a time.

Can children stay at Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge?

Yes. Families enjoy the pool, the space around the cottages and the guided walks to nearby villages, which can be shortened for younger children. The ridge has steps and uneven paths, so toddlers need close supervision. We usually book connecting or adjacent cottages and arrange early dinners for families with small children.
