Questions travellers ask
Good to know
Is February a good time to visit Nepal?
February warms steadily and the skies stay clear. It is a strong month for Chitwan and Bardia: the grass-cutting season opens up the floodplain, and animals are easier to see. Mountain views from Pokhara and Nagarkot are reliable before the spring haze builds. Snow still closes higher passes and Upper Mustang is bitterly cold. Losar, the Tibetan and Sherpa new year, often falls this month, with prayers and butter lamps at Boudhanath.
What is the weather like in Nepal in February?
Kathmandu 4–21 °C, dry, clear. Conditions differ by altitude and coast, so check the forecast for each stop a week before you travel.
Where should we go in Nepal in February?
We suggest Chitwan, Bardia, Pokhara. Book Bardia now for the start of its best tiger season, as Tiger Tops Karnali Lodge has few rooms.
