RAAS Jodhpur

RAAS sits behind a gateway in the old city lanes, a short walk from the clock tower market. The original haveli buildings have been restored in red sandstone and joined by newer wings designed to frame the fort, which rises almost straight above the courtyard. At night, with Mehrangarh lit, the view from the terraces is the reason guests rebook.
We choose RAAS for travellers who want to walk out into the blue city, eat in the lanes and see Jodhpur at street level, rather than drive in from a palace on the hill. Rooms are compact compared with Umaid Bhawan, but the design is calm and the service personal. Cars cannot reach the door, so luggage goes in by hand for the final stretch.
Why we book it
- Mehrangarh Fort directly above the courtyard
- Inside the old city, within walking distance of the bazaars
- Restored haveli with a calm, modern design
Questions travellers ask
Good to know
RAAS or Umaid Bhawan Palace
RAAS puts you inside the old city with the fort above you and the bazaars on foot. Umaid Bhawan is a grand palace on a hill outside the centre, with more space and a royal setting. For two nights, we often book one of each, or RAAS for a design-led stay and Umaid Bhawan for the palace experience.
Can cars reach RAAS Jodhpur
Not to the door. The old city lanes are narrow, so cars stop a short distance away and the hotel moves luggage the rest of the way, often by small vehicle or porter. It is easy in practice, but guests with limited mobility should tell us in advance so we can plan the arrival.
Is RAAS Jodhpur good for families
It suits couples and solo travellers best. Rooms are compact, the atmosphere is quiet and the setting rewards walking. Families with older children enjoy it for a night or two, but families with young children usually prefer the space of Umaid Bhawan Palace or a larger hotel outside the walls.
