Marari Beach

Marari Beach occupies a large plot of coconut groves behind the sand at Mararikulam, a fishing village 15 km north of Alappuzha. The villas take their style from local fishermen's houses, with thatched roofs, earthy colours and outdoor bathrooms. Garden villas sit among the palms, and pool villas have their own small pools and courtyards.
The resort grows much of its own produce on an organic farm, with butterfly gardens and ponds in the grounds, and runs a large Ayurveda centre and yoga sessions. The beach is long and quiet, with fishing boats drawn up under the palms. Cycling, coir village visits and cooking classes are easily arranged. It is our usual last stop before flying home from Kochi.
Why we book it

Questions travellers ask
Good to know
Is Marari Beach resort on the beach?
Yes. The resort's grounds open directly onto Marari beach, with the villas set back among coconut palms. It is a quiet stretch shared with the fishing village. Swimming is possible close to shore from November to March; follow the resort's advice on conditions.
Which villas are best at Marari Beach?
Pool villas, with private pools and walled courtyards, suit honeymooners and couples who want privacy. Garden villas are simpler and closer to the main facilities. Families can take adjoining villas. We choose based on your group and season. Pool villas sell out first in winter.
How far is Marari Beach from Kochi airport?
About 80 km, roughly 2 to 2.25 hours by car. Fort Kochi is about 50 km and 1.5 hours, and Alappuzha's houseboat jetties about 30 minutes south. This makes Marari a natural final stop on a Kerala journey. Early flights need a pre-dawn start.
