Diphlu River Lodge

Diphlu River Lodge stands on the bank of the small Diphlu river, which marks the edge of Kaziranga's Central range. The cottages are raised on stilts, built from bamboo, timber and thatch, and set apart along a walkway so that each looks out over paddy fields and the river towards the park. Rooms are comfortable and calm, with private verandas where guests watch birds over morning tea.
The lodge works on a full-board basis and handles the practical side of a Kaziranga stay: jeep permits, the early start, and resident naturalists who know which ranges are producing sightings. Evenings bring cultural programmes or talks on the park's rhino conservation. We generally book three nights, enough for four or five drives across at least two ranges without rushing.
Why we book it
- Stilted cottages facing the park boundary
- Naturalists and safari logistics handled in-house
- Full board removes the need to plan meals around drives
Questions travellers ask
Good to know
How many nights should I stay at Diphlu River Lodge?
Three nights is ideal. It allows four or five jeep drives across the Central, Western and Eastern ranges, plus a slower morning for birding or a tea estate visit. Two nights works for a shorter trip but gives less flexibility if a range closes or the weather is poor.
Is Diphlu River Lodge open all year?
The lodge follows Kaziranga's season, which runs from October or November to about April or May, with dates set each year by the park. During the monsoon the park closes and the lodge may close or run reduced operations. Check current status before you travel and before you set your dates.
Are safaris included at Diphlu River Lodge?
The lodge typically offers packages that include meals, jeep drives with its naturalists and park fees, but inclusions vary by package and season. We confirm exactly what is covered when we book, including camera fees and any elephant ride, so there are no extra charges at check-out.
