Is December a good time to visit North East India?
The Hornbill Festival runs from 1 to 10 December at Kisama near Kohima, and Kohima's few good rooms sell out months ahead. Kaziranga is fully open and comfortable by day. Meghalaya is dry and cool, ideal for walking. Tawang is cold with snow possible on the passes, and Christmas in Shillong and Kohima brings carols and lit churches.
