Nimmu House
Nimmu sits near the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers, about 35 km west of Leh on the Srinagar road. Nimmu House is a large traditional house that has been carefully restored, with a few rooms inside the old building and spacious tents in the apricot and willow orchard around it. The style is simple and refined, with local materials and good linens. It is calm and green. Evenings are calm.
Food is one of the pleasures here, with fresh vegetables from the garden and dishes that mix Ladakhi and international cooking. From the house, Alchi, Likir and Basgo are under an hour away, Lamayuru is a long day out, and the Sham walks begin close by. Nimmu House is seasonal, open in the warmer months. Check current status before you travel. Book early for summer. It suits walkers especially, and families enjoy it too.

How far is Nimmu House from Leh?
Nimmu House is about 35 km west of Leh, around one hour by road along the Srinagar highway. It is about 40 minutes from Alchi and 30 minutes from Likir, and is a good stop on the drive from Srinagar.
Is Nimmu House open all year?
No, Nimmu House is seasonal and opens in the warmer months, generally late spring to early autumn. Opening dates vary from year to year, so check current status before you travel. In winter we use Leh as a base instead.
Should we choose a room or a tent at Nimmu House?
Both are comfortable. Rooms in the old house have more traditional character, while the orchard tents are spacious and quiet, with the garden at the door. Couples often prefer the tents; families sometimes prefer rooms. We advise based on availability.
