Kumarakom Lake Resort stretches along the eastern shore of Vembanad Lake. Its heritage villas are built in traditional Kerala style using old wooden elements, with open-air bathrooms, while its pool villas sit beside a long, winding swimming pool that meanders through the grounds like a backwater canal. Lake-facing rooms watch the sun set across the water.

The resort has an Ayurveda centre with doctors and therapists for short programmes, several restaurants including a lakeside one, and a private jetty from which it runs its own houseboats. Cultural performances are held in the evenings. With its range of room types and facilities, it suits both couples and families.

Why we book it

  1. Pool villas on a long winding lagoon pool
  2. Lakeside sunsets across Vembanad
  3. Established Ayurveda centre on site

Questions travellers ask

Good to know

Is Kumarakom Lake Resort good for honeymooners?

Yes. Its pool villas, lakeside sunsets, private dining options and Ayurveda centre make it one of the most popular honeymoon resorts in Kerala. Ask for a pool villa or a lake-facing heritage villa. We often combine it with one night on a private houseboat.

Does Kumarakom Lake Resort have Ayurveda?

Yes, the resort has an Ayurveda centre with resident doctors and therapists offering treatments and short rejuvenation programmes. For a full panchakarma of 14 to 21 days, we suggest a dedicated retreat. Book a consultation on arrival. Treatments are separate for men and women.

How far is Kumarakom Lake Resort from Kochi airport?

About 85 km, roughly 2.5 hours by car. Kottayam railway station is about 15 km away. Thekkady is about 3.5 to 4 hours by road and Marari about an hour across the Thanneermukkom barrage. We usually stop for lunch or coffee on the way if you land in the morning.
