From Korzok, the road returns past Kiagar Tso and Sumdo to Mahe bridge on the Indus, then follows the river upstream to Nyoma and Loma. At Loma, a road turns south-east into the Hanle valley. The road is mostly paved, with wide views over the grasslands. Kiang and Changpa herds are often seen along the way.

How long is the drive from Tso Moriri to Hanle?
About five hours for 145 km via Mahe, Nyoma and Loma, including short stops. The road is mostly paved. Kiang and nomad camps are often seen along the way, and Nyoma makes a convenient stop for tea. Arrive by mid-afternoon to rest before a night of stars.
Do we need separate permits for Hanle?
Hanle needs its own permit endorsement, which we include when applying in Leh. Foreigners' access to Hanle has varied in recent years. Check current status before you travel. Carry copies for the checkposts at Mahe and Nyoma. We handle all of it.
Is there fuel on the way to Hanle?
Fuel stations are limited in the Changthang. We fill up in Leh and carry extra fuel where needed. Your driver will plan this; it is not something you need to arrange. Nyoma has limited supplies. We plan fuel stops carefully.
Can we go from Hanle to Pangong?
Yes, a road via Chushul and Tsaga La has been opened to visitors with permits in recent years, about 200 km and seven hours. Check current status before you travel. It passes Chushul and Merak. Permits must cover the route.
