Good to know
How do I get from Kaziranga to Majuli?
Drive about 2.5 hours to Nimati Ghat near Jorhat, then take the vehicle ferry across the Brahmaputra to Majuli, about 1 to 1.5 hours. Your car can go on the ferry. Allow most of a day including stops.

Can I stop at the gibbon sanctuary on the way to Majuli?
Yes. Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary near Mariani is close to the route. Leave Kaziranga at dawn, walk in the sanctuary in the early morning, have lunch in Jorhat and take the ferry in the early afternoon.
Is there a bridge to Majuli?
A road bridge linking Majuli to the Jorhat side is under construction, with work restarted in late 2025. Until it opens, the ferry is the main route. Check current status before you travel.
