Old town and village walk

A late-afternoon walk from the palace through Deogarh's old town, past temples, wells and craft workshops, into the villages and fields beyond as daily life winds down.

Deogarh's old town spreads below the palace in a small grid of lanes, with houses painted in soft colours, small temples and a busy market. Life here is unhurried, and visitors are rare enough that a walk feels personal. Your guide, often from the palace, knows many of the families.

We stop at a silversmith, a potter or a weaver if they are working, and at a temple for the evening bell. Beyond the town, we walk out along field paths to a village, where women draw water, children play and herders bring their animals home.

The walk is flat to gently rolling, about 3–4 km, and can be shortened. We end at a viewpoint or by a lake for sunset, with the car waiting. Ask before photographing people; most are happy if asked politely.
